So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
Galatians 5:16-17
LIVE by the Spirit. Scripture says for us to keep in step with the Spirit!
Yes, keep in step with God.
IN Him, we are pure, just as our Father is pure. Without Him, we are polluted.
What happens when we live and walk and keep in step with the Spirit of God? Sin is not gratified!
You see, sin wants to be fed! But if we walk by the Spirit of God, sin is starved. Scripture states sin’s desires are contrary to the Spirit. (visa versa) They do not walk hand in hand in harmony. Quite the opposite!
They are enemies! They are in constant conflict! They war against each other. Sin wants you to….sin. Sin is so subtle it wants you to be so entrenched, that you are in agreement and not realizing, oops, I am sinning.
Have you ever been so steeped in sin that you actually made excuses for it? I have, sorry to say. I had an answer to “why” I was doing it, but my answer was wrong! Sin was being fed, and speaking on my behalf.
I stepped away from living by the Spirit, and chose sin instead.
But, I am so happy to say, God didn’t approve of this situation! He stepped in and pulled me out of the miry clay, called sin. He spoke words only to me, by the Spirit, through a pastor, that no one else heard, but my spirit. God told me to turn around, stop my sin, and turn back to Him. Truthfully, I didn’t obey that precious day He spoke, but, I listened, eventually, and am so glad I did.
For truth be made known, I hated the sin I was in. I am ashamed to this day, for sinning against my Father, and with a thankful heart, so glad Jesus stepped in and shown me TRUTH of what this sin was doing.
It was warring with me- there was something in me spiritually, that preserved me. ((Momma’s prayers? Grandma’s)) The Holy Spirit may of even prayed for me the words they didn’t know to pray, on my behalf. Whatever it was, I am grateful that I listened!
Jesus, thank you for Salvation and Redemption. Thank you for saving me out of this sin that wanted to consume me. Thank you for putting a stop to it by saying NO to sin! Thank you that in my nature, spirit, YOU…that I can walk and live by the Spirit and be free IN You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
